Mr. Burns has a diverse practice focusing on lender representation in market rate and affordable multifamily housing and healthcare mortgage loan transactions involving HUD, FHA and Ginnie Mae. He represents mortgage lenders in a variety of commercial real estate financing transactions, including new construction, acquisition, refinancings, tax-exempt and taxable bond projects, low-income housing tax credits and post-closing servicing matters. Mr. Burns also provides legal counsel to clients who are active in a broad array of matters related to the entertainment industry.
Before joining K&A as an associate, Mr. Burns was a law clerk in K&A’s litigation and bankruptcy group and he also summered at two prestigious national law firms and externed in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana. During law school, Mr. Burns participated in several moot court competitions and was active in the Black Law Students Association and the Student Bar Association. Currently, Mr. Burns is on the Executive Board of the 100 Black Men of Greater Washington, DC and is active in other community service organizations as well.
